"Why is it when man destroys something man has made, we call it vandalism?
but when man destroys something God has made, we call it a sport?"  (Campolo, 1988)

The truth of the matter is that most greyhounds who come off the track that are not killed either as pups or disposable racing dogs after they are done racing (lost too many races) are sent to research labs.  Since 9-11, many people have suffered in our country, but many many animals have also suffered.  The groups like ours who do rescue have suffered greatly.  Much was given to the 9-11 victims which left little to be given to other worthy causes.  In the past year we have considered the fact that we may have to close our doors if the contributions to GRI didn't pick up.  Thanks to a handful of very dedicated and generous people, we have been able to go on.  The greyhounds that we save are not only the ones here in the Boise area, but we are on alert to help and take any greyhound anywhere that needs our help.
Many groups are struggling.  The Greyhound Network News' last edition stated, "the survival of the newsletter depends on you, dear friends."  It is the only newsletter of its kind, giving valuable information, state to state on greyhound statistics, and worldwide statistics.
If each of you would give a minimum of $25.00 a year, to the Greyhound Network News, to Greyhound Rescue of Idaho and other valuable people such as the Greyhound Protection League and Grey2KUSA, we would see a quicker end to greyhound racing.  Folks, that is only $2 per month, throw away money for most.  Precious little greyhounds could get the medical help they need and it would help us to keep going to find them homes and to educate the public on the ongoing cruelties of greyhound racing.
The survival of greyhound racing and the survival of greyhound groups like ours depends on you, dear friends.  The survival and future of disposable dogs depends on your generosity today.  I urge you to look into this little dog's eyes (picture below).  It is too late for her, but others are out there waiting for your help.  What will your answer be?  The Bible says, "the truth will set you free."  Please, help us to set the greyhounds free.  We can not do it without you!!
Kenneth and Virginia McKean, Greyhound Rescue of Idaho

Greyhounds like this little girl are dying in research labs everyday.  Please help us end this cruelty.
