Greyhound Rescue has Lost a Founding Member
On Wednesday, January 29th, 2003 Sweet Baby McKean passed from this world to her next venture...playing and running without barriers on the streets of gold on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge.
Many of you know GRI's logo, many of you may or may not know that the little greyhound being cradled in those loving hands is Sweet Baby and her mom, Virginia McKean. Sweet Baby was her family's light and best friend for over 11 years. Sweet also moonlighted as the inspiration and the mascot to Greyhound Rescue for over 10 of those years.
Sweet Baby has been to countless adoption booths and greyhound functions throughout the years. Many potential adopters have said to Virginia and her husband Ken, "Oh, is this sweet baby up for adoption?" And with pride and a smile they would say, "Sorry, but Sweet is our's. Though we can find you a sweet greyhound just like her." Her name was so appropriate....She not only was but will always be Virginia and Ken's Sweet Baby....
She will always be Everyone's Sweet Baby.
Virginia and Ken, Thank you for allowing everyone to share in her love. Sweet will continue to influence and direct through the words and actions of everyone that came in contact with her. She not only started a movement to save others like herself she will continue to oversee from her new position, laying at Our Father's feet in Heaven.......Godspeed to you little one.
